International Pierre de Coubertin Committee
In 2008, I was awarded from the International Pierre de Coubertin Committee (IPCC) the inaugural “Coubertin Prize” for researching the writings, speeches and correspondence of the founder of the modern Olympic Games. Following my award I was invited to join the Executive Board of the committee, which made me the first Greek national to join the board since its establishment in 1975.

In 2014, I was re-elected to serve the board until 2018. From my role as a member I have helped to inaugurate a National Pierre de Coubertin Committee as well as a “Coubertin School” in Cyprus, which joined the worldwide network of Coubertin Schools (see link below). I also organised an International Symposium during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and published an edited book on “Olympism, Learning Legacies and Olympic Education” forwarded from the IOC President Dr. Thomas Bach.

I am honoured to be part of such an international organisation that aspires to the values of Olympism and makes every possible effort to materialise them with worldwide projects of sport, culture and education.
